John Thyne (“Tine”) is an active and successful attorney, real estate broker, and a professor of law at the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law where he has been awarded Professor of the Year seven times. John was recognized as Leadership Santa Barbara County’s Distinguished Leader of the Year. Other leadership roles John has held in Santa Barbara include President of the University Club of Santa Barbara; Secretary of the Legacy Foundation of the Santa Barbara College of Law; President of the Santa Barbara County Bar Foundation; Director on the Santa Barbara County Bar Association; Barrister in the William L. Gordon Inns of Court; member of the Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS® Grievance and Professional Standards Committees; President of the California Applicants Attorneys’ Association; President and Founding member of the Santa Barbara Catholic Singles Organization; board member of the Santa Barbara Mariachi Festival and more.
Goodwin & Thyne Properties has been recognized as Santa Barbara’s best mid-sized company by the Pacific Coast Business Times and John has twice been recognized as a finalist for Best REALTOR® by the Santa Barbara Independent magazine. John was a top “40 under 40” business leader; he was named “Outstanding Young Lawyer” by the bar association; “Outstanding Jr. Alumnus” from his law school; he earned an “Everyday Hero” award for his work with the Red Cross and he was named a finalist for the national “Golden Rule Award” for volunteerism.
John has been awarded a national JC Penney Golden Rule Award, John donates blood frequently, he is corporate CFO of One805, Inc. which is a nonprofit supporting first responders, has been active in supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara; Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church; Reading for the Blind & Dyslexic and several other community service organizations.
