With deep roots in California’s most coveted coastal communities, Jim Vaughan brings a distinctive combination of local knowledge, construction expertise, and a family legacy in real estate spanning decades. As the son of respected broker Bill Vaughan (Montecito Village Realty Group), Jim grew up immersed in the values of hard work, integrity, and service, principles that continue to guide his approach today.
A lifelong athlete, Jim began playing tennis at age three on the courts of the Miramar Hotel & Beach Resort in Montecito — a passion that carried him through NCAA Division I competition at Southern Methodist University. From there, Jim joined Toll Brothers as Project Manager, where he led the launch of the firm’s groundbreaking Modern Architecture Collection in Orange County, overseeing every stage from planning and construction to sales.
In 2018, Jim returned to Montecito to help rebuild after the devastating Thomas Fire and debris flow. As Project Manager and Superintendent for Giffin & Crane, one of Santa Barbara’s premier general contractors, he oversaw complex residential projects, helping restore the fabric of the community he’s long called home.
Jim’s connection to Montecito is both personal and profound. With a family presence in Birnam Wood since 1985, he offers clients a rare insider’s perspective into the community’s history, character, and evolving market. His expertise spans luxury residential, commercial, and development opportunities across Montecito, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Goleta, as well as Ventura, Pacific Palisades, and Orange County.
Today, in partnership with Kevin Goodwin, co-founder of Goodwin & Thyne Properties and respected industry leader, Jim is helping shape a new era of real estate excellence, blending expertise, vision, and a shared commitment to deliver unmatched results for clients and community alike. While retired from tennis, Jim remains an avid golfer, surfer, and all-around athlete, embracing the active coastal lifestyle that defines Santa Barbara.
